The Earthlight Community

Focus Statement –

We are a collection of people from many walks of life who share a common desire to live a more conscious, caring and sustainable lifestyle. We envision that this will be in an eco-village type set-up in a rural location.

We recognise that there are currently great changes sweeping the planet, and we understand our own personal emergence* to be a part of this greater process. Therefore we aspire to live by the following intentions:

      to express ever more fully our authentic selves and to act with integrity in all our thoughts and actions.

      to co-create with nature, accepting responsibility for our world on all levels.

      to serve something greater than ourselves and our individual needs.

      to nurture our world by optimising our use of resources and practising conscious stewardship of any land we are privileged to take care of.

      to listen to each other in a non-judgemental way, respecting boundaries, belief systems and personal life choices.

      to foster life-long learning, recognising that each person is both teacher and learner and be a centre offering educational opportunities to the wider community.

      to reach out to the wider community encouraging spiritual and cultural inclusivity whilst honouring diversity and celebrating all forms of conscious spiritual expression.

      to meet each other in times of peace and conflict face to face with openness and caring, reaching through our egocentric hurts and fears to find and share our truths.

      to promote healing on all levels, both personal and planetary utilising a wide variety of personal and collective workshopping methods.

      to share many delights such as dance, song, story-telling, celebration and many other forms of creative expression.

WHO WE ARE


We are a group of people who are working towards creating a community in the region -Mid Wales/Shropshire/Herefordshire. We are looking for land and have an Eco/Spiritual ideological focus. We need more people to join us.


Some of us have been meeting for the last year and have been “getting to know one another” and exploring our reasons for wanting to live in community.


We all agree that the basis of our community needs to be a spiritual one - of an inclusive nature: We honour and acknowledge all spiritual traditions.


Some members in Shropshire hold regular local groups such as Eckhart Tolle, A Course in Miracles, and several are members of The Beloved Community an international group founded by James Twyman (www.emissaryoflight.com)


Jenny organises for James here in the UK and teaches on his trainings. She also founded and co-leads Silent Presence Retreats, which have been going for the last 7 years. Others are therapists group leaders, coaches, sound healers, writers, artists, green builders and gardeners etc. (see http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/shrewsbury/business-guide/feature/silent-presence-retreats/19042 )


As a group we are beginning to look for land – possibly with some buildings already on it which can be used whilst we create our new individual eco-homes. Some of us envisage wooden structures, some straw bale and other eco-buildings.


We hope to be off grid eventually. Run courses and groups. Grow our own food. Create a community hub building and a sanctuary/sacred space. Keep bees, chickens and possibly other animals.


Some of us involved have small properties of our own to sell and we envisage the formation of something like a community interest company. To make the vision a reality we also need more people to join us and more finance.
